Dear Soul: Your allowed to just be this summer
It’s been a little while since I last wrote a blog, with the busyness of Uni exam and assignment season I decided to take a little break until I was finished with it all. Now that I am back I thought I would also start a new 4 week soulful summer series where each week I will post a faith based blog about a different topic alongside another blog which will be about all sorts from fitness to best places to go hiking this summer. Essentially I will try (emphasises on try) to post two blogs a week. To kickstart this series I have written a blog down below all about embracing spiritual rest as a sacred practice and not as a reward, I hope it will help you to slow down and allow yourself to just be, in this long summer ahead of us.
There's a gentle whisper waiting for you beneath the noise. A stillness that doesn't ask for productivity, for perfection or even clarity. It just asks for you. This summer, lets
listen to that whisper.
Our world is so obsessed with doing that we forget the sacredness of being. We measure ourselves by accomplishments, schedules and our social life. But our souls are not built for constant output. They are designed for rhythm, for a balance of work and rest, for striving and surrender.
" Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened , and I will give rest." - Mathew 11:28
There's a powerful invitation here from Jesus himself. To the tired. To the burdened. To those overwhelmed with life. He is not saying " Come to me when you have it all figured out." He is saying come. Come as you are. That is enough. This summer what if you prioritised this? What if your only job this summer was to simple breathe deeper? To slow down and notice things that you would normally not notice. What if your soul doesn't need fixing but tending to ?
You don't need to write a novel, start a business or hustle you way through healing. Your allowed to sleep in. To cry if you need to. To laugh out loud or sing off-key. To spend whole afternoons sitting by the sea and just being. Not necessarily having any plans. Because sometimes just being and not having plans can be the most healing thing of all.
Let this be the summer where you stop trying to earn your worth.
Let this be the summer of letting go.
Let this summer be one of healing and finding yourself again.
Dear soul: your allowed to just be this summer
No pressure. No performance. Just presence.
And in that quiet, you might just hear the voice of love whisper again:" Come to Me.. I will give you rest."
Its okay to have plans this summer and to have a busy one ( I know I do especially with finishing my Pilates instructor qualification) but it is also so important to allow yourself rest, bring yourself back to the present and just be. I hope this blog has been a helpful reminder of that to you.
Love always,
Ruby xo
